‘Eating babies’ has become the stereotypical attack on an opposing parties, groups or ‘fringe’ lifestyles [Atheists]. Jonathan Swift wrote a satirical essay (A Modest Proposal) on eating babies in the 1700s as a joke. An interesting discussion can be found here.
