Ian MacKaye

“Why on earth would I want to listen to something that’s been fabricated and polished up and sold to me by corporations that are ultimately answering to larger corporatiosns that have nothing to do with music? Let’s just say it-music is not the bottom line for these people. The point is I’m coming at this from a whole different angle.”

The new Spin has an amazing interview with Ian… not worth the purchase since its about a page, but go to Barnes & Noble and give it a read.

Also in this Spin is a pic of Danger Mouse wearing a Neutral Milk Hotel shirt. Amazing. There is rumor of Danger Mouse x Neutral Milk Hotel remixes…

if you’re making a reference to the mike judge picture posted a few days ago…
i would wager to say that the music ian mackaye is making now (the evens) is at least as lame as the folk/biker bar music mike judge went on to make. so why is he more of a “hardcore hero” than mike judge (i actually know the answer to this, but i’m curious to see what you will say)?

  2. Because, music style of not, Ian MacKaye hasn’t drifted far from his DIY routes. He still helps out young artists and hasn’t lost any of the integrity he preached about all those years ago..

The last time I saw Mike Judge he barely acknowledge his past, and spent the night drinking and singing bad folk tunes. This, or course, was almost 8 years ago.

  3. And for the record, I’m not doubting Mike Judge’s place in hardcore history. I’m just saying that the legend has died. Kind of the same way I felt after seeing Ray cappo sporting a full nike sweat oufi

t and appearing in a Twix commercial. Oddly enough, the bands that should go down as legends are barely selling out 50 people clubs in the US. Sick Of It All and Murphy’s Law aren’t exactly growing old gracefully. And it’s kind of sad that stupid Korn fans that are now drooling over modern crap like Hatebreed and From Autumn to Ashes have no idea who they are.

At least Maiden can still sell out the Garden. Now, I’m just bored at work and ranting. Sorry.
